FAQ


Question: The system does not accept my ferry reservation, why?

Answer 1: the system accepts reservations only up to 1 day before the date of departure.

Answer 2: The main server of isFerry may be out of service at the time of your booking. Try again after 5 minutes.

Answer 3: The system may be overloaded at the time of your booking. Try again after a short while.

Answer 4: In case you it is still not possible to proceed with the booking, please contact us.
Question: I am over 60 years old. Do I get a discount?

Answer: If a discount of that kind is provided by the ferry company, you can view the reduced rates in the online system of isFerry.com
Question: I have heard that some shipping companies offer special fares for families with many children. Can I get that discount, if I make my reservation through the isFerry online system?

Answer: Certainly. If a special rate of that kind is provided by the ferry company, you can view the reduced fares in the online system of isFerry.com. Usually those discounts are valid for the Greek citizens!
Question: Do I receive a ticket for my reservation?

Answer: isFerry.com does not send any tickets. After finalizing your reservation through our webpage, you can print out all necessary information (confirmation etc.) directly. With this printout you will receive your boarding card from the port office (check-in) of the respective company and will be ready for embarkation. In this way isFerry.com is trying to avoid unnecessary waste of paper.
Question: How do I get the booking confirmation?

Answer: After finalizing your reservation through our webpage, print out the page "Confirmation". This is the confirmation of your reservation at the same time. It is that quick and easy. In case you make a reservation over the telephone, you will be mailed your confirmation.
Question: The data of my reservation is not correct. What can I do?

Answer: In that case you must contact us and we will try to correct any errors or omissions. Though, it is not always possible for us to correct errors. Furthermore, the ferry company or isFerry.com may require extra costs for amendments.
Question: Do I have to pay a cancellation fee in case I cancel my reservation?

Answer: Yes, you will be charged with a cancellation fee of 40 Euros for international routes and with 25 Euros for Greek inland routes per reservation (not per passenger) by isFerry.com. Cancellation fees from the respective company will be added.
Question: Up to what amount can cancellation fees rise?

Answer: most companies apply cancellation fees as follows:
-0% in case of cancellation due to force majeure (e.g. severe weather)
-Up to 31 days before vessel’s departure: the ticket can be cancelled or the date of the travel can be postponed without any surcharge.
-Up to 30-15 days before vessel’s departure: 50% of the ticket fare as cancellation fee. Alternatively the date of travel can be postponed (difference in fare must be paid)
-Up to 14-8 days prior to departure: 75% of the fare as cancellation fees.
-Up to 7 days prior to departure: 100% of the fare as cancellation fees.

Promotional or special offer tickets (e.g. Early booking offer, special offers etc.)
In case of cancellation after the booking clients are not entitled to claim refund.

Note: all information mentioned above is without engagement. Detailed terms and conditions regarding cancellations and refunds of the respective shipping company can be seen upon finalization of your booking and prior to payment transaction.

In any case we recommend you a travel cancellation insurance coverage.
Question: What if my voyage is cancelled?

Answer: In that case the port office of your ferry operator will issue new boarding cards for the next possible voyage or for another date of travel if you wish.
 
Attention: In case of delay or cancellation of the departure due to force majeure (e.g. severe weather), please contact the port office of your ferry operator to be informed of the new timetables. We recommend clients to call directly on the relevant ferry operator to get to know if the passage is carried out or not.
Question: Can I change my reservation or part of my reservation?

Answer: Unfortunately, that is not possible. You will have to cancel your reservation and make a new one.

isFerry.com does not accept any alterations after the finalization of the booking.
Question: How can I get reimbursement after I have cancelled my reservation?

Answer: By the same method you paid! Reimbursements (less charges levied by the ferry Operator and isFerry.com handling fees) are credited to your credit card account or to your bank account if you paid by bank transfer. Possible remittance fees will be placed to your debit.
Question: Can I check in with a different vehicle from the one I stated in my reservation?
 
Answer: Usually yes, as long as you send us per mail the vehicle type, model and license plate number, and on condition that the measurements (length and height) are not different from the vehicle mentioned in the reservation. For a change without problem we are going to need your reservation number, too.
Question: I am not able to travel. Can somebody else use my reservation?

Answer: Unfortunately not. A ticket is non-transferable. The passenger name written on the ticket should be the same passenger to get on board.
Question: Where can I find the embarkation office (check-in)?

Answer: The address and telephone number of the check-in office are listed on your confirmation. You can find direction signs in every port, showing you the way to the embarkation point of your ferry. The check-in office is there too (usually).

Attention: On the island you have to collect your boarding card/ticket from the check-in office listed on your confirmation.
Question: What documents do I need for the check-in?

Answer:
1. Reference- and booking number (confirmation) of your reservation

2. Valid ID card or passport of every passenger listed in the reservation.

3. Registration certificate and driving license (in case you travel with a vehicle)
Question: When does check-in begin and end?

Answer: Every ferry Operator has their own rules. The check-in usually starts 2 hours prior to departure (for Greek inland routes) and 3 hours prior to departure (for international routes, e.g. Greece-Italy).We have to point out to you that the check-in for domestic routes ends 30 minutes before the departure of the ferry and for international routes 45 minutes before the departure. After the expiration of that time, the ferry company is entitled to cancel your reservation without any refund.
Question: How long does it take to embark?

Answer: Consider 30 minutes as appropriate. This may differ from ferry to ferry and mostly depends on your parking position on deck.
Question: Are there parking lots in the port?

Answer: That differs from port to port. Most ports have parking space near the check-in points.
Question: What happens if I miss my ferry?

Answer: It depends on the ferry company and on the route. Your ticket is valid for a specific date, time of departure, port, vessel and ferry operator. Most of the time it is up to the ferry company to modify your ticket for the next possible departure. In some cases amendment or cancellation fees may be applied. If you notice that you are not going to arrive at the port on time, please call the port agency. They will suggest the best solution for you.
Question: Is there any special service for the elderly or disabled passengers?

Answer: When making your reservation please notify us what kind of assistance you are going to need during your stay on board, and if you bring a wheelchair, a wheeled walker or other means with you. For more information please contact the port agency at the respective port.
Question: What can I do, if I don’t know the license plate number of the vehicle (rented car, new car etc.)?

Answer: As soon as isFerry.com request you to enter the license plate number of the vehicle and further information for the car, write “Rented” in the appropriate (Fields: make, model, license plate number, country/state of registration) field. On the day of your departure you will hand these data in at the check-in office of the corresponding port.

Note: Dimensions and type of the vehicle may not differ very much from the stated data in your booking. If this event occurs you will have to pay the difference at the port agency.
