Terms & Conditions of the Agency for the Booking of Tickets

The company Travaela - Online Bookings & Web Systems Ltd. is a legally operating travel agency (hereinafter referred to as the "Agency") and offers its ferry products and services through cooperating websites and electronic booking systems.

These Booking Terms and Conditions (hereinafter "Agency Terms" or "Terms of the Agency") together with the Terms of Use & Services of the Booking Platform & the Websites (hereinafter "Platform"), the Privacy Policy and the Ferry/ Shipping Company Terms (hereinafter referred to as "Ferry Company"), constitute a legally binding agreement between You (also referred to as "User" or "Passenger") and our Agency. 1. General Terms

The offered ferry ticket issuance services are governed by the following Terms of the Agency and are applied to every booking / purchase order of ferry tickets, either made online, by telephone, or directly at the offices of the Agency. By booking and purchasing the ferry ticket or other service offered by the Agency, each User accepts the said Terms of the Agency.

You also declare and guarantee that:

  • You are of the age required to use our services as well as to create legally binding obligations arising from this use.
  • The information provided by you is true and accurate.
  • The email addresses you use to book your ferry ticket (s) are valid.
  • You are legally authorized to act on behalf of or in the name of the persons included in your booking and to accept these Agency Terms for them.
  • You are responsible to inform such persons about the content of all these Terms relating to the conduct of their journey.
  • You are financially responsible for any use of our Services made by you and those who use your name or account.

2. Booking Procedure

A necessary condition for the purchase of ferry tickets and the completion of the process is the acceptance of the present Terms of the Agency and the terms of the Ferry Company by selecting the corresponding field in the final stage of the booking process.

By filling in the respective fields of the special booking form through the online systems cooperating with the Agency, but also for any other booking, whether made by phone or at the offices of the Travel Agency, the User explicitly instructs the Agency to mediate for the provision of a travel service . The booking order binds the User in any case.

Your Order, regarding the ferry products and services you have ordered, begins to exist and is valid after the completion of the relevant booking form. Then it is checked that your booking has been entered correctly in the booking system of the Ferry Company and the payment can be processed and completed without any problem. Upon completion of your booking, a booking confirmation form will appear on the computer screen and, in addition, you will receive a confirmation email with the special booking codes, which will include all the details of the booking and useful information regarding your departure. In case the booking is not completed successfully (e.g. due to insufficient availability on board, system error, insufficient balance in the credit card account, etc.), the confirmation of the booking will not appear on your computer screen and you will not receive the email confirming the success of the booking.

The final price of the ferry tickets at all stages of the booking corresponds to the one that appears in the initially offered as final / total one. Any additional charges for expenses such as credit card or PayPal or bank transfer charges etc. appear at the final stage of the booking and definitely before proceeding with the completion and payment of the ticket(s).

By booking ferry tickets, you authorize us to act as your representative during the ticket booking process by the selected Ferry Company and then to make the payment on your behalf.

The total price of ferry tickets includes:

  • Any port fees,
  • Any fuel surcharge,

Booking costs also include part of the cost of advertising on the internet, in the print media and wherever else it is deemed useful or necessary.

3. Payment Procedure

The payment of the ferry tickets booking is made to the Agency which is the only one responsible for the booking, pursuant to the present terms and conditions. Payment methods other than those mentioned are not accepted and we do not undertake any responsibility for cash or checks sent by mail.

To pay for the ticket(s) by credit / debit card, you need to provide us with your card details in order to cover its / their cost. After the payment of the cost of the ticket/s, the booking confirmation is displayed.

The Agency and its Ferry Companies also reserve the right to carry out the necessary checks regarding the validity of the User’s / Passenger’s credit card used to book the ferry tickets. If you use a third party’s card to pay for your booking, a written permission from the cardholder may be required. When boarding, and as long as a third party’s credit card was used when booking the ferry tickets, we recommend that you have a photocopy thereof bearing the original signature of its legal holder. Failure to prove the validity and lawful use of the credit card entitles the Agency and its Ferry companies even to prevent Passengers from entering the ship.

Within the framework of the Agency's operation and the transactions’ security and protection, we reserve the right to receive a report on problems related to payment cards that have been used, the email address that you used during the booking, etc. and cancel your booking at any time. In such cases, we will contact you either by phone or via the email address you indicated at the time of booking. In case communication is not possible, we can cancel your booking without undertaking any responsibility at all.

In case of bookings paid by deposit in a bank account of the Agency (bank transfer), these are virtual and their confirmation depends on the availability of the Ferry company at the time of their payment, after the electronic submission of the deposit document and after checking that the amount was credited in the Agency’s account. If the available prior booking is not possible, the Agency's responsibility is limited to finding a corresponding route and fare, and in case of failure, to the return of the passenger's fare.

If the deposit is not made by you within the time limit set during the process, then the booking is automatically canceled. We are not responsible for any subsequent price increase in case of unsuccessful completion of a payment. Any price increase is payable by the passenger in order for a booking to be confirmed. We are not obliged to issue tickets or send a confirmation if the payment procedure has not been completed and if we have not received the payment. However, in any case, the passenger remains obliged to pay the full amount for the services.

If you choose an invoice to be sent, please enter the correct details in the appropriate fields. It is pointed out that, in case you request a change of the details of the invoice issued due to an error on your part, you will be charged with € 10.00.

If you choose to pay by installments on the tickets’ final purchase price, we inform you that this price contains a respective fee.

In some cases, apart from the information you provide to us concerning the charge and payment of your booking, you may be required to provide proof of identity. Such information may be requested during the booking or payment process or at any other time. We reserve the right to cancel the booking if we do not receive your proof of identity when and if requested, without any responsibility of the Agency.

3.1. Cases of Obvious Price Error

In case of an obvious error (including any error when entering the information, a miscalculation or typographical error) resulting in an incorrect value, we reserve the right to cancel your booking, even if you have received an (automatic) confirmation from us. In such case, you will be informed as soon as possible, so that you can make a booking at the correct price, but if you wish to do so. In any case, we are not responsible and no compensation is owed for this cancellation or any costs that have arisen due to incorrect and already canceled booking.

3.2. Exchange Rates

Payment for ferry services is made in (€) EURO. Exchange rates may be different from those displayed on the Agency's partner websites and there may be additional charges of the credit institution that issued your credit card. The Agency (and its Ferry Companies) is not responsible for any difference between the price displayed through the partner websites and / or the Platform and the amount charged to your credit or debit card due to the exchange rate.

We are not responsible for any charges associated with the various exchange rates and charges imposed by your bank, as well as for any additional charges incurred in foreign currency transactions, provided that the debit currency of the card is not Euro.

3.3. Cases of Amount Pre-Approvals & Return Procedure

In some rare cases, due to a technical or other problem during the final stage of booking of your ferry tickets, it may not be possible to complete the process. As in cases of incomplete "communication" between the various systems which were used during the booking process or the expiration of the time limit within which the booking was to take place or due to a delay in approving the booking by the bank or the cardholder, resulting in the non-completion of the booking process of the selected ferry tickets while the corresponding amount of their price has already been committed.

In the above cases, the transaction is not completed by the bank and the amount committed is not transferred to our company account, but remains committed by the bank, according to the security protocol of online transactions and protection of the cardholder. Therefore, until it is released by the bank, it cannot be used by the cardholder, but in the cardholder's bank account statement it will appear as a normal charge due to the pre-approval and the commitment for the purchase of ferry tickets. As long as the amount is committed, it cannot be used according to the bank's security protocols, so if you still want to make the booking, you will have to make a new transaction.

3.4. Payment by Instalments

In cases where the option of payment by installments is allowed, we inform you that an additional interest rate is imposed (the amount is displayed when choosing the duration of the installments) on the ticket’s final price.

3.5. Grouping of Accommodation Categories & Vehicle Categories

For the convenience of the Users, the Agency has grouped and codified the categories of cabins, places (accommodation) and vehicles. These groupings and codifications differ from those of the Ferry companies. In any case, however, the Ferry Company’s codes that appear at the completion of the booking, in the electronic ticket information, are those that are valid. By accepting these terms, the User waives any claims against the Agency that stem from the grouping / codification of the Agency in contrast to the coding of the respective Ferry Company.

3.6. Adjacent Seats or Adjacent Cabins

During the electronic booking process, the selection of adjacent or specific seats or cabins is not possible as the Ferry Companies do not provide the plan of the available seats of each ship on the booking platform. In any case, the system attempts to place the passengers of the same booking in adjacent seats or adjacent cabins, but this cannot be guaranteed. In case you want to ensure that adjacent seats or adjacent cabins are booked, and provided that the Ferry Company you have chosen has a seating plan, you can make your booking by phone with the help of the website’s service team.

3.7. Student & Youth Discounts

The student discount prices offered by our Agency apply in many cases only to holders of a student card issued by the local institutions of the country of destination.

The student and youth discount prices that may be offered by the Ferry Companies are shown in the price analysis with the corresponding indication in the passenger type. There are a few cases in which, although the Ferry Companies offer discounted student / youth prices, unfortunately these cannot be applied via the electronic booking systems with which the Agency cooperates. The Agency is not responsible for any charges incurred by students and young people arising during the booking process and you explicitly state that you have no claims against the Agency.

3.8. Baby Tickets

Although the Agency makes every effort to enjoy all the baby discounts that may be offered, however there may be cases that are not supported by the collaborating booking system(s).

The Agency is not responsible for any charges for babies, occurring during the booking process and you explicitly state that you have no claim against the Agency.

3.9. Economy Tickets

Cheap tickets are usually not subject to cancellation / modification / change. These are tickets provided by the Agency and / or the Ferry Companies in a limited number and regard specific ferry routes. You are also invited to read the terms of the Ferry Companies appearing on this website so that you are fully informed before completing the booking.

3.10. Special Offers of Ferry Tickets

The offers displayed during the booking process on ferry tickets are valid only if they are available during the booking process. It is at the discretion of the Agency and the Ferry companies to withdraw offers and we are not responsible for any cancellation, change or withdrawal of any offers.

3.11. Unaccompanied Vehicles

Unaccompanied vehicles are not accepted by all Ferry companies. In case the unaccompanied vehicle has not been confirmed during the booking process, we will refund you the amount you may have paid through the website in full. For the credit process of your account, please read the chapter "Cases of Amount Pre-Approvals & Return Procedure".

3.12. Return Tickets

In round trip bookings, passengers and vehicles must be the same on both parts of the route. If a difference in names and / or vehicles is observed, passengers are liable to pay any difference occurring in the ticket fare.

4. Route Confirmation

You must confirm the time of departure of the ship before the respective port authority or the port offices or headquarters of the Ferry companies. The contact details for the port offices of the Ferry Companies are indicated in the confirmation of your booking.

In cases where the weather conditions are not good or there is increased traffic in the port or there is a strike that affects the scheduled routes of the ships or there is a change of ship (other than the one stated in the booking due to mechanical failure, for example) or there is any other force majeure reason, there may be delays, changes and / or cancellations in your itinerary.

Ferry companies are required by law to contact their passengers to notify them about changes or cancellations. This is why we insist that you enter a valid mobile phone number during the booking process, so that the Ferry Company can contact you. Unfortunately, many Ferry Companies do not comply with this obligation! For more information please read the chapter "Cancellations / Modifications by the Ferry Company".

Example of correct number of mobile contacts in international version: country code + mobile number in international version (without dashes, spaces and parentheses).

5. Check-in & Boarding Procedure

5.1. Receipt of Boarding Tickets

On the day of departure, you can pick up boarding tickets from the booths/ kiosks or the agencies of the Ferry companies located in the ports of departure of the ships or from the headquarters of the Ferry Company.

Tickets / boarding passes (paper tickets) are issued at check-in.

ATTENTION: Shipping agencies and kiosks at the ports of departure for the receipt of prepaid boarding tickets are open about 2 to 3 hours before the departure of the ship.

The check-in procedure is mandatory and applies to all departure ports. It takes place at the booths / kiosks of the Ferry Company located at the port / departure pier of the ship or at the cooperating offices of the Ferry Company that we mention to you after the booking is completed.

Please arrive at the boarding points at least two (2) hours (international routes) or at least one (1) hour (Greek domestic routes) before the departure of the ship. Please note that check-in closes forty-five (45) minutes (international routes) or thirty (30) minutes (Greek domestic routes) before the departure of the ship. After the end of the above periods, the Ferry Company reserves the right to cancel the booking without any return of fare.

For the check-in, you need:

  1. Your booking details (codes) that we will send you after its completion.
  2. The IDs (or passports, where required) of the passenger.
  3. Your student card (or anything else mentioned in the booking process, e.g. ISIC Card) but as long as you have made a discounted student booking.
  4. The documents of the car travelling with you (if you have made a booking).

The Ferry Companies reserve the right not to allow the boarding of a passenger without these necessary documents.

After check-in and if you have a car, drive your vehicle to the car park outside the ship and wait for boarding. Otherwise, if you are a pedestrian, you continue for boarding by following the orders of the people in charge of the ship.

5.2. Vehicles

When checking-in or boarding, the Ferry Company and its authorized partners can inspect the dimensions of the vehicles declared during the booking process. In case of discrepancies, passengers will be required to pay the difference. Items such as roof boxes, bicycle and / or cargo racks or any other components that are loaded on a vehicle and are not part of the body but are attached thereto, may be charged with an additional fee by the Ferry Company.

5.3. Passenger Luggage

  • HIGHSPEED, SEAJETS, CATAMARANS, FLYING DOLPHINS: There are designated luggage compartments in them. There are no extra charges. Do not leave or store "valuables" in these areas.
  • CONVENTIONAL SHIPS: There are designated luggage compartments (upon boarding) in them. There are no baggage restrictions and no extra charges. Do not leave or store valuables in these areas.

5.4. Pets

The transport of pets to or from Europe must be in compliance with the relevant legislation of those countries. Contact your consulate for more information about pet travelling. Many Ferry companies charge for the transportation of animals at an additional cost.

5.5. Passenger Liability

If the passenger is not allowed to enter the country of the ship's itinerary, then the return costs are borne exclusively by the passenger. Moreover, if a fine is imposed by the Port Authorities due to invalid documents of the passenger, the fine is borne by the passenger. Holders of passports of all countries should contact the relevant consulate for information or clarifications regarding entry into a country other than that of their residence.

If the passenger wishes to disembark before the departure of the ship or in a port other than that of his original destination, then he is obliged to declare it to the ship's accounting office and take his luggage and vehicle with him, if it is possible to move it from the ship's car park.

6. Changes & Cancellations

6.1. Changes & Cancellations made by the Passengers

The only way to cancel or modify your booking is through the online method via this website. Click on the My Booking link in the Menu bar and by using the booking number (you will find it in the booking confirmation email) and your email address (the same email address you used for the booking) you will be led to various options such as the cancellation or the modification.

Please note that, due to data protection laws, we are not allowed to process requests for cancellation or modification by email or telephone. Please use the My Booking link to cancel or modify your booking.

The possibility to change or to cancel or to modify a ferry ticket, as well as the conditions governing such a change or cancellation, are referred to in the "Ferry Company" section of this website. Additional costs may arise in the event of a change or cancellation or modification of a ferry ticket, which is determined by the present Terms of the Agency and those of the "Ferry Company" section of this website.

Any changes / modifications / cancellations of the electronic bookings or boarding tickets are made only through the Agency and are subject to these Terms and those of the section "Ferry Company" on this website. The port (sub)agencies and the headquarters of the Ferry Companies are not obliged to make any change / modification / cancellation of the bookings or the tickets. In the event that this occurs, either the new booking or the new ticket is subject to these Agency Terms.

In all cases of cancellation or change or modification of all or part of the already confirmed booking, non-participation or boarding, the Agency withholds, regardless of the cost of tickets, the amount of forty (40) Euros per booking, in the case of international routes, while in the case of itineraries within Greece, the amount of fifteen (15) Euros / per booking for a total cost of tickets up to 200 Euros and the amount of twenty five (25) Euros / per booking for a total cost of tickets over 200 Euros. Any credit/ debit card charges or bank transfer or other remittance charges are borne exclusively by the User / Passenger.

The Agency is entitled to keep the entire amount of the ticket if the passenger interrupts his trip to an intermediate port or does not use part or all of his return ticket.

In case of price difference due to changes, for any reason, in the category of the cabin, in the type of seat and in the vehicle (e.g. from discount price / discount, etc.), the difference is not refundable.

6.2. Changes & Cancellations made by the Ferry Company

We do not accept any cancellations or changes or modifications or delays of routes (e.g. weather conditions, epidemics, political unrest, earthquake, other departure gate, change of time, change of ship, etc.) that take place after the booking of tickets. The Agency's liability is limited to the refund of the ticket fare. All departure / arrival times are provided by the Ferry Companies and are given at the local time of each country. The Agency is not responsible for any costs incurred by the passenger after cancellation or modification or change of route(s) made by the Ferry Company for any reason whatsoever, such as, but not limited to, expenses for accommodation and meals, airline tickets and ferry tickets at a higher replacement cost, any legal costs etc. For the above reasons and in cases where the route is canceled due to force majeure (e.g. bad weather, epidemics, political unrest, war, earthquake, etc.), the Agency bears no responsibility and the passenger resigns from any additional claim for compensation other than the refund of the ferry ticket fare.

In the above cases of force majeure, we are obliged to apply any binding instructions or any acts of legislative content or any state legislative decisions issued by the authorities of the place of activity and seat of the Agency and / or the Ferry Companies and the passenger waives other claims arising from the legislative law / framework of his country of origin or residence.

Our Agency will make every effort to inform you in a timely manner by phone, email or other electronic means of communication of the User and as long as it receives timely information from the Ferry Company and before your scheduled departure, about any significant changes in your booking. For transfers, delays and cancellations of routes or any other modifications that occur on the part of the Ferry Companies, and when it is impossible to inform the Passenger, our Agency bears no responsibility and the passenger waives any claim for compensation. We also do not bear any responsibility and the Passenger waives the claim for compensation for any additional costs and charges that may arise from the above changes of the Ferry Companies.

For this reason, you are invited to contact the respective Ferry Company or one of its central / port agents in order to be informed about the above changes.

In case you have received the boarding tickets (special paper tickets / vouchers) from the local agencies / kiosks of the Ferry Companies and the route is canceled or modified for any reason (strikes, demonstrations, bad weather conditions, etc.), the return of the value of ferry tickets is made only if these standard paper tickets (boarding tickets) are sent to the address mentioned below (at your own expense). According to the cancellation policy and the laws of the country where the Ferry Company operates, the refund of the value of the ferry tickets is not possible unless the boarding tickets (especially paper tickets / coupons) are returned exactly as mentioned above.

Please send the boarding tickets to: isFerry, Leof. Marathonos 21, 19005 Nea Makri, Greece.

Refunds take place 6 to 12 months after the return of the boarding tickets or the refund claim (as long as boarding tickets have not been issued). Refund claims are made in writing only.

Port agencies / sub-agencies are not obliged to make any refunds resulting from cancellation, modification or delay of service.

  2. untrue details of a legal credit card holder,
  3. after a non-(or not timely) presentation of the necessary documents (passport, identity card, certificate of legal credit card holder, etc.) that the Agent and his associates may request from the person in charge (User / Passenger) of the booking.
