Pet in cabin
Most conventional and large high-speed ferries offer a limited number of pet-friendly cabins. However, the pet-friendly cabins' quantity limitation differs heavily from ship to ship, and their availability depends on how early they are booked.
Pet-friendly cabins meet the same standards as regular cabins, the only difference being the absence of a carpet.
Pets are not allowed in the inside public areas of the ships. However, you can use the ship's corridors to bring them to the cabin and go with them outside on the open deck spaces of the vessel to do their necessity in predefined areas (usually near the pet kennel area).
By booking your pet online, the necessity to register your pet at the port office while check-in and/ or to pay additional fees is eliminated (if not otherwise stated during the online booking). Thus, everything is booked properly online before arrival at the port!
Pet in kennel
Kennels for pets are available either on conventional or high-speed ferries.
- On conventional ferries, there are designated pet crates on the roof deck. You can bring your box, or you will be shown a kennel for your pet as soon as you embark. You can take your pet out of the kennel to do its necessity on the open deck. Pets are not allowed in public areas inside the ship.
- On high-speed ferries, the pet traveling with you has to stay in a designated kennel/ box for the whole journey. You can bring your box, or you will be shown a kennel for your pet as soon as you embark.
Pet on deck
On conventional ferries, you can also take your pet with you on deck by keeping it on a leash during the entire passage and only on the open deck spaces of the ship. But, again, designated places for doing its necessity are available (usually near the pet kennel area).
The pet on deck option is unavailable on high-speed ferries due to the absence of open deck areas.
The pet on deck option is free of charge (if not otherwise stated during the online booking)!
Pets with camping on board
By taking advantage of the camping on board option, your pet can stay with you in the camper, in a pet-friendly cabin, or in a kennel on board.
